THE CHALLENGE TO THE GODS

Art is part of the AXYHOTELS’ DNA. Every guest who chooses to partake of the experience of the accommodation facilities in both Rome and Milan automatically finds themselves immersed in art. The desire is to involve every visitor in the atmosphere of the key events of the two metropolitan cities, such as the Fashion Week that makes Milan bustle in September. It is the artist Alessia Dionisi of the Fornace77 arts and crafts studio who creates a teaser effect: her work ARACNE invites us to reflect on the values that the worlds of textiles, fashion, and art all have in common. For AXYHOTELS, works of art are a way to share a passion with guests and create a unique and recognizable link between its hotels.
For the Milano Fashion Week in September 2024, the multifaceted artist Alessia Dionisi has chosen to exhibit at AXYHOTELS InnStyle her new bewitching commissioned work of art ARACNE, the mortal woman who challenged the goddess Athena to a weaving competition, is located in the lobby of the hotel, inevitably attracting the curiosity of guests.

The piece’s metaphor of the textile industry and fashion is clear: through the felted threads of a carding machine - which Alessia has woven with utmost skill - the protagonist of the ancient tale of Greek mythology expresses her art, without remaining a prisoner of the spider’s web. Just like fashion, which is constantly evolving and reinventing itself, Aracne takes on new forms, fusing the typical craftsmanship of the female weaver with the innovation of those who know that true art is eternal, free, and in constant flux.

The protagonist's story will evolve into this extraordinary video, created entirely with artificial intelligence by AIfashionstudio. A compelling story that brings Aracne back to life in the present day.
The exhibit is not only a tribute to an ancient myth, but a reflection on the union between reality and artificial transformation, which symbolizes Aracne's challenge itself. In this context, art becomes a means to explore the boundaries of technological innovation and their interaction with human creativity, adding an additional level of meaning to the project.
The synergy between art and fashion is sealed through the extraordinary costumes worn by the protagonist which represent the evolution of Aracne over time, transforming the entire journey into a visual and cultural experience of great impact. The concept from which we started intends to launch a challenge to the more industrial fashion system, favoring a more pure and artisanal talent that often struggles to emerge in a panorama dominated by a select few.
